[pct-l] Getting Into Trouble on the Trail

One thing I remember about being out on the trail is that the mountainmen of
the old days got into trouble a lot too. They ate their horses, dogs, and
mules when things went wrong. They mostly survived by toughing it out. Not fun.
Even John Muir got into trouble on his outings. He writes about his close
calls. Poor planning for potential weather mostly or getting lost. So, when
you go out on the trail take it seriously. Pros a lot better than you have
gotten in trouble. One of the greatest joys on the trail is to have the exact
gear you need for a given situation. Your good planning came through and paid
off. A very neat feeling.

Be humble and respectful of Mother Nature. She will be more than glad to
take a few notches off your ego or worse. Please be safe and have fun --
