[pct-l] Snow Sections

South of Kennedy Meadows should be snow free - until the end of October. There was a freak snowfall last year first week of November of I remember correctly and the snow just never stopped. I would be wary of trying to do anything in the Sierras after the beginning of October. Winter can start there and get nasty a lot earlier. Baden Powel and Fuller Ridge are the only two sections in Scal that had snow problems - adjacent to these slopes is Blue Ridge and Mission Creek and Saddle Juction which have had snow this year but less of a problem - except for the earliest of hikers.

Hi,

Gary and I are planning to hike the last half of Washington this summer and
should have some time left in September and October to start some California
sections.

We would like to hike some the the Ca sections that are giving everyone snow
trouble now (and usually do in a normal year assuming a start from the
border in late April). I think the operative words are in a normal year. We
would rather avoid the need for ice axes and crampons if possible next
year..

Any suggestions from those of you more familiar with Southern California?

Thanks,

Judy K
