Does anyone know what the trail conditions are shaping up for a hike out of
Kennedy Meadows to Cottonwood Pass. I would like to knock off that 40 mile
section of the trail in late June/early July. Nice little hike with some Sierra
flavor. Might even see some thru-hikers too. I have already done the trail
north of Cottonwood Pass to Tuolumne Meadows.
Goofing off at KM and eating at the Bear Claw is always fun. Then a stay at
the Dow Motel in Lone Pine, CA is a nice finish before heading back to Las
Vegas. I always eat at the MerryGoRound restaurant in Lone Pine. Nice place and
about a half block north of the Dow Motel. I stay in the old section of the
Dow Motel, but with a private bathroom. Very neat place and a great trail
town with Joseph Market and good old Mt. Whitney.
I have way too much fun on these hikes. Thanks, Switchback
P.S. -- Hey, I just thought of something. Should I zero day in Lone Pine and
then try for Mt. Whitney? It would be my 4th time to the top. Believe it or
not, I have a small O2 bottle to take with me. After all, I have 5.3 weeks
of vacation time as of today. IT'S PARTY TIME! The hike up to Cottonwood
would be an acclimation hike. No HAPE, AMS or HACE for me (God willing).
