[pct-l] backpack question

Good evening, Shawn,

I use the GoLite Breeze, and have several of them. They are advertised to
be 2900 + 850 cubic inches, which has always been plenty since I'm almost of
a lunatic-fringe ultralite. It weighs 14 ounces plus a sternum strap that I
added. It has no frame, its just a sack. I use a hinge-folded sleeping pad
inside for a frame and padding. This model does not have a hip belt, which
is fine with me, but some people don't like them for that reason. GoLite
makes another similar model that does have a belt.

This is part of the great fun of hiking: Selecting the most appropriate
gear, however the best piece of gear is the one that you can do without and
leave at home.

approriate size for extended hikes? I want to be able to hold any gear I
will need. What is the average cubic inches of the packs of PCT
thru-hikers? External or internal frame?
