[pct-l] map on tyvek??

I have been hearing talk of printing on tyvek. Whats the trick? I tried printing a map on a cut up piece of a USPS tyvek envelope and, while the detail was good enough, the tiniest drop of water would make it bleed. Do I need a certian kind of printer? I have a HP inkjet.
