No, no, don't shut up about it!
You too, Dude. Thanks to all for your opinions, qualifications and
clarifications.
This is very important stuff to me, and all items to plug into my
personal prep plan.
I want to send out a big thanks to everyone who contributes anything
positive to this list. I realize most of us are not paper-packin'
experts with half the alphabet tagged onto our names, but experience is
a teacher not to be ignored, and something that I haven't got in many
of these areas. I've done a lot of backpacking myself, but a 65-mile
five-day jaunt is the best I can claim for one outing.
I will say that through your comments I've learned that I must have
suffered from hyponatremia regularly, even though I'm chugging gatorade
and sunflower seeds all day. Indications? afternoon dizzyness,
exhaustion, and leg cramps even though my belly is so full of water my
eyeballs are sloshing. Sounds to me like my sodium level might have
been ok, but I was low on calcium, magnesium and potassium.
I take everything I read on this list with a grain of salt, but its all
good. Got my work cut out for me for a 2007 attempt and awareness of
getting the right kinds of nutrition is a big help.
