[pct-l] Suggestions for a Day-Hike between Campo and I-10

Please accept my apologies for my ignorance on this post, but.

 

I'm going out to San Diego next weekend on business.  I live on the east
coast and rarely get chances to go out west.  I want to hike the PCT
next year though and would really like to go visit some part of it while
I'm out there.  I think that Mt. San Jacinto might be one of the most
scenic hikes, but from what I've read (I haven't been reading as
carefully as class of 2005 regarding snow) it seems like it would quite
a trudge through some deep stuff (???).  Does anyone have any
suggestions for what would be a nice (long) day-hike say somewhere
between Campo and I-10?
