[pct-l] Shipping from the east coast.

Stoves and Fuel bottle:
I have never come across a restriction on mailing clean stoves or fuel
bottles and have been allowed to mail a purged butane stove. Purge the
stove and make sure it has no residual fuel or fumes in it so you are not
mailing the fuel. Ask at your post office, they may require they be sent
ground. The FAA doesn't ban them as hazardous material, but many if not
most airlines prohibit them.

Matches:
These are considered hazardous material so they may only be shipped
surface, if at all, with special mailing restrictions. This wouldn't be
worth the trouble so just get them in San Diego.

If you still want to mail matches (or fuel) check out this link,
http://www.gottawalk.com/shipping_fuel.htm for more information. I would
also download the USPS Publication 52 Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable
Mail, http://www.usps.com/cpim/ftp/pubs/pub52.pdf. I have mailed fuel
cannisters a few times and found that postal clerks may not be aware that
this allowable. Having a copy of Pub 52 and being persistant will at least
get them to check with someone who knows the rules so they will accept the
package.

Pocket knives, ice axe and other cutting or pointed tools in checked
baggage only.
