As I understand it, Ti stakes that are lighter than aluminum
have about the same strength as aluminum. Ti stakes that
have about the same _weight_ as aluminum are considerably
stronger than aluminum and, if high quality, shouldn't bend
at all. Try looking for a type manufactured by Simons
Metals. I believe Backcountry.com once sold a 7" skewer type
of theirs - hardly a bargain, but I can vouch for the fact
that they won't bend even under severe abuse. They're also
somewhat thinner than standard aluminum stakes, so will go
into the ground with less prodding.
