[pct-l] Books for tent reading

I found a great book abandoned in a bear locker in Toulumne on my very first backpacking trip , a 221 mile romp on the JMT. It is called The Kindness of Strangers: Penniless Across America by Mike MacIntyre.

McIntyre hitchhiked across America with no money, accepting only the "kindness of strangers"--rides, food, shelter, and the occasional beer. It has haunted me ever since I read it...and I may embark on such an adventure myself one day. A great 'feel good' book that calmed my fears of being alone in the wilds for the very first time...In fact, I was glad to be safe in my tent while reading about his adventures...

I thank whoever left is there for me...I passed it on to a Northbounder that I met at trailcrest...He was supposed to leave it in Toulumne when he was finished with it...

Hey, it may still be out there...
