I strongly recommend against bringing a bear with you. Bears just aren't
equipped to cover 20+ miles day after day. A goat or a llama with you would
be a much better idea. ;)

<<<So, I've made the decision that if we are to go through bucketloads of
snow, we ought to have waypoints in a GPS telling us if we are following
the trail, so that following it via map isn't as necessary.
