Breakfast: 1 c granola, dry, no pwd milk (eaten while packing up)
Morning snacks: 1 Clif Bar
3 oz soy cheese or 1/2 c trail mix
Lunch: 1 Pemmican Bar
Afternoon snack: 1 Clif Bar
3 oz soy cheese or 1/2 c trail mix
Dinner: 1 dehydrated AlpineAire, Mary Jane's Farm, or Natural High
"2-serving" (rehydrated earlier in a day and eaten cold); I've got 2 each of 30
different varieties for my Border to Tuolumne PCT section hike. Some don't like the
cost of these; I don't like the hassle of drying my own, or settling for
whatever's in a store along the way. I saved enough by catching gear sales to
buy 20 dinners this year.
This worked for me, for all my AT section hikes; for the earliest ones Clif
Bar didn't exist, and packaged soy cheese possibly didn't either. Boring or
monotonous? I guess, but I never really think about it; I have to eat to hike,
so I don't think much about the eating. I have no interest in sodas, chips,
white rice, or white bread; there's not much in groceries that I would eat,
given the choice. Now, I might have an occasional oil can - recent discussions
having whetted my appetite.
