Hey Alex
No public transportation.  A company called "the Shuttle" out of K Falls
can take you from either K Falls or Medford Airport.  Over $100.00. No
increase for up to four people.   541.882.3099  Or hitch up Hwy 62 an hour
or so to the trail.  

Alternative Start your hike at Lake of the Woods.  Hwy 140 and the PCT. 
Take the Old PCT thru Sky Lakes Wilderness.  One of my favorite parts of
the PCT.  The Shuttle has a regular service ($20?) from K Falls to Medford
that crosses there.  They may be able to make a stop at the trail for you.
