[pct-l] PCT Hike for March 5th & 6th

 <<National Weather Service - NWS San Diego.htm>>

National Weather Service forecasts snow in the San Jacinto mountains
through next Monday, possibly beyond.
Conditions along the PCT, particularly north of Apache Peak may be more
hazardous than current conditions.

I'll be watching this closely between now and next weekend. If by
February 26th, the conditions do not at least improve to current
conditions, the Hike should be postponed.

An alternative could possibly be to hike from the 74 to Fobes Saddle,
bailing out of the PCT at the Fobes Ranch run out trail. This could
either be done as a day hike (it's 15 miles from the 74 to Fobes
Saddle), or as an overnighter, camping perhaps at Live Oak or Oak Canyon
Springs (5.6k). The trail junction to both Springs is about 8 miles,
conveniently half way between the 74 and Fobes.

Even with the coming weather, snow down to below 6k may not occur. (I
know, it COULD, but I'm ever the optimist!).

Can I get an Idea as to what you all think? Perhaps with the shorter
hike, others may be interested as well?

Does anyone know if vehicles can park at or near Fobes Ranch?
Has anyone any info on camping at these two springs?
