[pct-l] North to South--No Really
A "normal" launch date for SoBo coudl be anywhere form mid June through July
10 depending on snow levels... given the snow levels in the North Cascades
this year one might even start even before mid June... but be prepared for
avalanch possibilities the first two weeks and know how to use an ice axe if
leaving that early. A GPS will be virtually useless given the steep side of
the mountains (they do work on top of the passes--but by then you are either
in the correct pass or wrong one!)
There is no kickoff party since there is seldom more than a handful at most
trying sobo. THere were four of us in 2003 and only "Pancake" made it all
the way--the rest of us were only doing the top half of the PCT.

Really, are there any Sobo out there? How would a person go about meeting
up with them? They don't have a kickoff party do they? When is there
normal launch dates?
