[pct-l] shoes
Seems to me that the whole Crocs craze began 2-3 years ago
on the AT, possibly with the outfitter in Damascus VA, which
that trail passes directly thru. Not sure if the models he
sold then were actually "Crocs," but the description is the
same as Donna's and they look about the same as what's on
the Crocs site. My impression is that hikers would buy the
Crocs-like things at that store about 450 miles into the
hike, and then carry them north the rest of the way, running
them through the trail grapevine as it were.
Anyone know the precise word-of-mouth origin of this fad?
I'm pretty sure it didn't begin in the usual way from the
top down (a la REI or EMS).
