[pct-l] Camp shoes

Not to mention very low-bulk. Bulk is the most prohibitive
aspect of most camp or otherwise secondary pair of footwear.
Crocs may be light, but where do you put the darn things?
Inside the pack, they hog much otherwise useful space.
Dangling from the outside of the pack, they seem to cry
"amateur on board" while at the same time begging to be left
behind at a rest stop or accidentally dropped in transit.

Hour by hour maintenance is a worthwhile consideration while
deciding what items to pack and which to leave behind.
Asking, "Will I grow to loathe the process this particular
item will demand of me?" is as pertinent a question as its
weight or function. Extra seconds spent attending to gear do
add up over the course of 5 months. Fiddling with fastex
buckles and rummaging through ripstop nylon, to my thinking
at least, takes the mind off the more meaningful matter at
hand.
