The "stealth camper" needs to be careful not to let the

"Stealth camping" is an abused term. AT hikers speak of
"stealthing" behind the shelters, for instance. ALDHA
defines stealth camping in the same way, and not
surprisingly frowns upon the practice. Granted, stealth
camping "well" is very hard to do on the AT, and shouldn't
be recommended publicly. But there's also a lot of
misinformation about the term that gives it an unnecessarily
bad rap, and makes it a potentially faulty practice.
