Now, Judson, lay off the horror stories; you upset JoAnn. She might even  
have little kids; now mountain lions and little kids ... but I guess I'd better  
not go there.
 
But he's got a good idea, JoAnn; just tag along behind  others when possible, 
for the first few hundred miles. If you join the start of  the '05 PCT 
Marathon, there'll be lots of people around for 2-3 weeks probably;  the speed 
demons will almost run out of sight, thankfully, but there'll be lots  of us 
slower, but steady hikers I'm guessing.
