[pct-l] sierra transport
There's a bus system that services Onyx. I don't remember what it is called, but I had a friend meet me in Onyx in 2003, and he used the bus service. I think it goes to Bakersfield? Not sure about that. So you could hitch to Onyx from Walker Pass, then take the bus to SOMEWHERE.
If you can wait until after the Sierra, I'd recommend getting to Reno. You can get a ride from Echo Lake to South Lake Tahoe, then take a shuttle from South Lake Tahoe to Reno. In 2002, I had to go home for a wedding, and I flew out of Reno. That's a crazily busy airport!

Hi,
I am planning a thru-hike this season but I have to take a break in the middle for a week or so for a graduation. My question is this: What would be the best location around the beginning of the Sierra (in the south) to leave and return to the trail. I understand that Kennedy Meadows is pretty remote. Is there a betterstopping/pausing point near there? It would be nice if I didn't have to hitch too far and might be able to take a bus or something. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Peace and Love,
Matt
