[pct-l] Lightest slimest altimeter watch?

Gizmo!!
Read your story yesterday on the PCT04. Congratulations!!

I knew you were close because Queen of Corona and Rainlocus said they met you, Carly and Amber in Washington.
They stayed with Kelly and I in Warner Springs last month.

I got off the trail September 15th at Crater Lake. I'm still in physical therapy for one of my legs. I'm giving it another try in 2005, end to end.

The SUUNTO watches seem to be what people like. Within 100 feet sounds good from what I've read so far.

My girlfriend found this Timex Helix marked down from $130 to $50 and wants to make it an Xmas gift. I'm trying to decide if there's $150.00 worth of benefits I can't get from this watch to justify entering the $200 range. Accuracy is a big concern. Another one: How much would an obsessed ultralight hiker pay for one ounce less?

For me, the biggest need is in the High Sierras where I already have too much to carry. Without the altimeter my favorite is the basic slim, plastic $15-$20 Casio.

Dunno about lightest or slimmest, but my Suunto Vector did me well this summer. When I was good about calibrating it, it was rarely more than 100 ft off. It may be big for the working world, but i never noticed it when on the trail.

my $0.02

Question: Lightest and slimest

I'm looking at Altimeter Watches. Like all my gear, I don't want it there, I just want what it does.
What I've seen in real life are huge and heavy. On the internet?? Can't tell.
All I need is Altimeter, time, backlight and alarm.

Another similar question: Timex Helix

Has anyone used the Timex Helix? I'm sure it's big but the price is real good right now. ($50)
