[pct-l] Re: Isn't Hiking Free?

Hey

Isn't Hiking free? This is how I do it. I have not been able to spend to
much time since the end of September on line. I had to make my
backpacking/credit card money. Although I'm retired with limited income I put an add in one
of the newspaper for remodeling. I have been able to salt away around thirty
grand for next summer. Of course most of that will keep my wife busy with her
credit card, while we play our wives spend. That's the pay off, you know that
puts a smile on their face. The other benefit while working we are not in
each other hair. It's a double bonus for my wife the house stays clean. She is
now dreading the thought of me screwing up her clean kitchen with my food
dehydrator.
I hope to do a winter Backpacking trip right after New Years. Merry
Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year every one.

Not sure if this applies to your situation or not. However when I was
working (or trying to work), I always filed an income tax return even if
my income was too low to require filing. Such a return lets the IRS know
that you haven't "forgotten" to file and may prevent your name from
popping up on a suspicious list or whatever.

Back in the old, old days when there was income tax averaging, I filed
for the years when I was in the Navy and had no taxable income. These
returns came in handy later to substantiate that I met the requirements
for my later averaging. LIke most things in life, planning for taxes
isn't perfect but it sure can help.

My 2?.
