Call it what you want. I call it a lot of fun and putting food on the

Nope. Any golden trout outside the Kern river drainage is not native. They 
where transplanted to most of the Sierra by shepherds and others a hundred 
years ago. See also Ralph Cutters trout guide or trout unlimited. There 
are plenty of golden trout in the Sierra. It is my understanding that the 
only reason trout unlimited calls them (particularly the Kern river 
goldern) endangered is hybridization with rainbow trout at lower 
elevations. In any case, they are legal game and I obey the limits.

I've spent some money on fly fishing gear and didn't have a good time. My 
best time is when I fish for trout with a hand line. This is real fun! But 
when I'm hungry I use a pole. I understand that there are enough snobs 
that think pole fishing is for kids or losers. I just don't care.
