[pct-l] Beyond water purification

I've occasionally had the same worry about contaminated containers. I take a
'dirty bottle', usually a large, thin polyethylene container (i.e. that
houses store-bought bottled water). I use that to scoop (although it is more
like immerse to fill it). Then transfer to a Nalgene. This might not be
workable for shallow water sources. I use my cooking pot to scoop cooking
water and assumne that everything gets killed by the heat (I think a good
assumption). I'd be interested to see what people have to say. If you go
with the 'things are not as contaminated a they seem' school, then the
probability of infection is even lower with a thin film of residue water
adhereing to a container.
