I put the full length blue foam pad in the pack as a cylinder into which 
everything else goes.  The key to comfort for me was putting my utlra 
lightyear tent up against my back inside the cylinder.  Everything else gets 
packed around it.  This makes an incredibly rigid pack that even with 30 
pounds rides on my hips and not shoulders...
