I pack a Mt Hdwr "SnoZone" soft shell. Windproof and water-RESISTANT.
Not waterproof.... It sheds a light-to-almost-moderate rainfall. It's an
outstanding outer layer. BUT- it's rather heavy and fleece-bulky.
For waterproofness (I think I posted this B4), I've got a Marmot Oracle
shell.
If it's raining, I'll pull out the Oracle. I've putzed around camp with
my SnoZone in a light rain, but that's about it.

Dear All:
Has anyone found the softshell technology actually can replace a
fleece/warmth layer and the outer/rainproof layer? Does a softshell
coat
perform both functions for a summer jaunt along the PCT?
