[pct-l] California Section L-Donner to Sierra City
I agree! The hike-really-fast-then-dive-into-the-tent/bag works as long as I
don't have to stop for more than about five minutes. That means food selection
(among other things) is very important: the food has to be something you can get
at easily and eat quickly, perhaps even while walking. Yet living on snickers
bars for ten hours isn't great, either (though I've done it). Then there are
those slowdowns/stops--the trail tread requires that you move slowly and pick
your way or you have to hitch to town so you stand in the rain at a good
hitching spot, etc. Gotta prepare for those, too.
