Great question Switchback. I was going to ask the same question after my
legs were a little more healed from my last hike.
This summer I skipped Tehachapi to Walker pass to catch the annual Meadow
Ed's Birthday Party at Kennedy Meadows. I need to hike that section to
complete California. Charlie who does the San Fillipe Hills water cashe
suggested cashing my own water. A second vehicle sure would help. Public
transportation and hitchhiking aren't the best from point A to B. My major
question, similar to yours, is "When?". Snow???? I want to see the
trail................................always. I'm no bushwacking, mountain
man hero.
Temperatures???????? What are the probable, not possible, temperatures?
Better the temperatures, the smaller the baseweight. Tent vs. Tarp?
I'd like to get a little advise also. Maybe find a hiking partner or four.

winter. I was thinking across the Mojave Desert and may be up to Walker
Pass would be good. Not interested in significant snow.

book for November to March? And what would be the water and temp
considerations? It would be great to get in 200 miles this winter on the
PCT.
