I'm not aware of any official detour, I could only suggest the simplest
would be for Southbound hikers take the TRAM, another would be to go to
Banning and take 243 to the Black Mountain Trailhead, if that trail is open,
the last time I was out there on 7/13, lots of dead tree removal was going
on. or further on to Marion Mtn Trail or into Idyllwild and back up the
usual way.
I looked on the web and it doesn't appear there are any Buses that go to
Idyllwild, so hitchhiking would be the only option other than walking.
