 After watching Dave Odell's slide show on their 1972 PCT at the ALDHA- West gathering, it makes me feel like my own trip ( 1977) was a cake walk. They had no guides, trail angels, trail in many spots, heavy gear and one even pushed and pulled a a wheel across Oregon.
   At Gathering I drove down to Donner Lake and saw the museum and brushed up on the history of Donner Party. I even bought the book and am reading it still. What a contrast between those days a now!! The Donner trip made Dave Odell's trip seem like an " Afternoon in the Park" . If you can, read or reread the history of the Donner Party.
