[pct-l] Mount St. Helens Eruption Imminent

They are reporting that based on the seismic activity, there is currently a 70% likelyhood of some sort of eruption. If it were to occur (note the IF) it would most likely throw ash several thousand feet in the air and the current wind conditions would carry that more towards Portland rather than East. The winds will change around Sat/Sun though and throw ash more to Eastern Wash and Or. Buy, hey, I'm not a scientist so I can't speak to how reliable their reports are... swoosh

There are widely circulated news reports that a new Mount St.
Helens eruption is imminent. The May 1980 Mount St. Helens explosion
left ash on (parts of) PCT OR/WA Section H, but the reports I've seen
so far indicate that it the currently expected event is unlikely to
affect the PCT. Has anyone local to the area seen any informed
speculation on what area might be affected by the currently expected
eruption (yesterday's winds would take aby ashfall away from the PCT,
for instance)?
