[pct-l] Re: stoves



I didn't imply that others on this list were incaplable of doing this
safely....... but the fire danger here is extreme and a number of fires have
been started by PCT hikers , generally ones from outside california, who
apprently can't/don't fully appreciate the danger one minor error can make.

I also have had several stories related to me about the achohol stoves
flaring up out of control, depending on how much fuel you have put in it it
will continute to burn until the fuel runs out or you can extinguish it.

I personally feel they are unsafe and would never use one for that reason,
at least here in California.
