I agree with Paul.  Hiking fast or longer has more to
do with fitness than anything else.  I am comfortable
at 3 to 3.5 miles per hour, allowing the mileage for
finishing a thru hike, yet also allowing longer rest
breaks or more zero days.

I'm sure I see at least as much as a slower hiker, and
more than those who spend their time near incredible
vistas looking only through a camera viewfinder.

We are all unique, and so should be our hikes.  Just
my opinion.........
