[pct-l] Thru-Hikers and cans (was Scary bear story & not hanging food)

> In National Parks, all guns are illegal, for any purpose (unless
> you're a ranger).

This is not true. This is no knock on David because many people do it,
but its rather annoying when people post things to the list that simply
are not true. Guns may be carried in Yosemite to protect live stock.
Here is the Oficial National Park Website that corrogorates what I said
before about Yosemite's firearm policy:
http://www.nps.gov/yose/wilderness/stock.htm

Here is what it says: "One firearm may be carried by the lead packer
provided it is unloaded, out of sight, and ammunition is kept separate
from the weapon."

Here is a webpage for Crater Lake that also explains that pack guides
can carry firearms at CLNP:
http://www.nps.gov/crla/adhi/adhia10c.htm

peace,
dude
