[pct-l] landmarks on Highway 108, and Highway 50 and Highway 80 near Lake Tahoe

True, but if you exit here, you miss that beautiful trail from Carson Pass
to Echo Lake. Who can ever forget that heart-stopping, memorable crossing of
the headwaters of the mighty Upper Truckee River? :D Showers Lake is a
great stop. Rather than climb that silly hill to Echo Lake Resort (like I
did - TWICE), I'd arrange for a pickup highway 50 at the Echo Summit Snow
Park. Northbound hikers descending from Showers Lake must walk the length of
this lot to find the trail which runs west just before the access road meets
the highway. Camping is possible here, but it is of very poor quality.
