[pct-l] Timing of Oregon Section Hike

I expect the bulk of thru-hikers will be hiking Oregon between the last week
of July and the end of August. By the time they get there, they are in
really good shape and most will be hiking 20-25 mile per day (some more).
If you start the middle of July, the hikers will definitely catch up with
you - unless you also hike at that pace. There could be mosquitoes, so be
prepared. If you have flexibility in when you start and can start at the
last minute, I'd call the Seiad Valley store and ask about the hikers. Its
only a couple of days to the border from there.

Enjoy the hike!

Subject: [pct-l] Timing of Oregon Section Hike

I'll be hiking the Oregon section of the PCT this summer and would like
to time my hike to coincide with the bulk of the thru hikers. Reading
prior year trail journals I'm tentatively honing in on a mid-July start.
Any one have any predictions about when the Class of 2004 will reach
Oregon? Or other thoughts on timing for an Oregon section hike? Thanks
much!

Leila, Eugene
