[pct-l] Alternate route Cascade Locks to Panter Creek

On June 7 there was discussion of hiking the highway from Cascade Locks To 
Panther Creek. I have had considerable discussion via E-mail with Jeff Schaffer 
strongly suggesting he should not be listing this as an alternate route in his 
guide book. He under estimates the backpackers ability to read maps and 
distances to determine whether he wants to reduce his mileage at this location or 
many other road walks along the way. Meanwhile the Pacific Crest Trail 
Association is working diligently to get the trail off highway stretches.
If one wants to carry less food on this stretch consider stopping at the 
Stabler store which is thirty miles north of Cascade Locks 3/4 mile down the Wind 
River Road. They are open until 7P.M.
