Yeah
I was Hiking part of Section G, Walker Pass to Kennedy Meadows last Thursday
thru Saturday, Friday the wind was really howling at the saddle @ the South
Fork of Sand Cyn, steady 50-60 mph, with higher gusts, but I still didn't
need a tent or tarp. The Bivy is water proof and would provide protection
from the rain, along with my rain coat/wind breaker, on the outside chance
it did happen, just stay out of any washes and creek beds
North of Kennedy Meadows a tarp or more would probably be a good idea but in
Section F I feel you are gonna need all the water you can carry, not a bunch
of stuff in your pack you won't use.
A headnet weighs a 2-3oz and I always have one with me in case of bees,
flies gnats or what ever.
