[pct-l] PCTA Seeking Trail Conditions Volunteers

Greetings,
I am posting this message on behalf of the Pacific
Crest Trail Association (PCTA). The PCTA is currently
seeking volunteers to help maintain and update the
"Current Trail Conditions" section on PCTA.org as well
as the trail conditions 1-800 hotline.
Volunteers will work with PCTA staff to review trail
conditions that are e-mailed and called in to the
PCTA. Volunteers may also (particularly during
circumstances such as wildfire affecting the trail)
research trail conditions. Volunteers will post trail
conditions updates to PCTA.org (there will be an
easy-to-use online form for this) and help determine
what information should be included on the 1-800
hotline. There may also be other relevant duties and
chances to improve upon the trail conditions
information provided to the public by the PCTA.
The PCTA is hoping to find at least 5 volunteers (one
from each of the trail's regions -- S. Cal, Central
Cal., N. Cal, Ore., and Wash.) Ideally, volunteers
should be familiar with the trail within a given
region and have reliable Web access.
If you are interested in helping the PCTA fulfill and
improve this very important public information role,
please contact Mike Dawson, PCTA Trail Operations
Director at trail@pcta.org
Thanks in advance, your assistance can greatly improve
hiker and equestrian experiences and safety on the
trail.
Regards,
Angela Ballard
