The California Department of Forestry has officially declared
the start of the fire season.

There was a wildfire near Running Springs on Sunday. It has
been contained; a possible arson suspect may have been detained.

Fire restrictions announced for the San Bernardino NF:
Seasonal fire restrictions are now in effect. No open campfires or
charcoal fires are allowed outside of designated recreation sites such
as campgrounds, picnic sites, and yellow post sites. Camping stoves
are permitted.
Smoking is permitted only within enclosed vehicles, at developed
recreation sites, or in an area 3 feet in diameter cleared to mineral
soil.

In the Angeles NF:
Until further notice, the only type of fires allowed outside of
developed recreation sites in the Angeles National Forest are stoves
using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel, and a
California Campfire Permit is required for their use. Open wood or
charcoal fires or barbecues are only allowed in provided stoves or
fire rings in developed recreation sites in the Forest. No campfire
permit is required for gas stoves in developed sites.

Note the wording differences between the two Web sites. For
the literal-minded, alcohol-fueled and Esbit-fueled stoves appear to
be prohibited in the Angeles NF, although not in the San Bernardino
NF.
