On Saturday I hiked up the Acorn Trail and then up Pine, Dawson and Baldy and then down to Baldy Village and did not need crampons except on the North side of Pine and Baldy. When looking back I thought the blue ridge looked pretty clear. I was feeling bad because I had recommended to four lady section hikers to avoid the area if they do not want snow. I guess I was more WRIGHT than WRONG.

As of yesterday, the trail between Guffy and Blue Ridge Campgrounds was
covered, in areas, with icy snow. It was difficult to cross without crampons and
took our group 2 hours to go .8 mile (could be that these girls ranged in age
between 7th and 10th grade). Also the slide area just north of Acorn Canyon
Trail before you get to Guffy has a patch of icy snow. This is the area where
the Sierra Club hiker fell. Water is still off at the pipes at Grassy Hollow
Visitor Center, however the bathrooms at the visitor center had cold water in
their faucets.
