[pct-l] Snow Conditions in the San Jacintos

Mike:
As of 041204, the ranger at Idyllwild told me that there is 26 inches of snow at the Tahquitz Trail junction at
8,000 feet. He said there is a little more on Fuller ridge.

My "feel" is that the snows will be melted to patches on San Jacinto by mid-May.
It's been warm and pleasant for the last couple weeks now, and before the last weather system that rolled through, it was downright hot!

I'm counting on getting back up into the San Jac and San G wildernesses soon, as I don't have proper snow gear and I've had to be sub-alpine all winter...

Does anyone have a feel yet for the necessity of an ice axe in the San Jacintos around the 2nd week of May?
