Hey Goat!

Hitching has never bothered me. As soon as I was let loose after high
school, I hitched cross Canada and back through the US and have never been afraid to
put my thumb out. It's an adventure upon itself.

Anyway, I know everyone is locked in to resupply points, but generally other
forms of fuel are available 7 days a week and not just when the PO's are open.
Esbits only redeeming value, imo, is that it's lighter, but since I'm not
that much of an ounce weanie and considering it's initial expense and then the
added money to get it, it doesn't make sense. I'm frugal and would rather
save my money for food and drink.

Short story. A few years ago, someone from the at-l got a group together and
bought cases of Esbit in bulk for half price, which at the time I thought was
a great deal. I didn't get in because I wasn't hiking that year, but it
turned out to be a horror show both on the supply and distribution end (late
delivery, partials orders) and he said never again. Too bad, but perhaps someone
else can try and get it together...

In the meantime, if the extra $100 or so isn't a problem and/or if you can
survive on "one a day", by all means go for it.
