[pct-l] Idyllwild CA lodging information

I'm updating "Yogi's PCT Handbook", and I have found a few lodging options
in Idyllwild. If you don't know, the long-time hiker-friendly Tahquitz Inn
cannot accommodate hikers in 2004, because they have booked their entire
motel for the year.

I made some phone calls and everyone seems to recommend the BLUEBIRD COTTAGE
INN. I spoke with owner Jennifer. Very friendly lady. The property is
newly remodeled. Rooms have TV, but not phone. Several different lodging
options at this property. Examples of rooms/cabins:

$65 one king, one twin.
$85 one king, one twin, kitchen.
$90 one queen, one double, one futon, kitchen.
$90 2 doubles, one sofa bed, kitchen.
$195 one king, 2 queens, one double, one twin, one sofa bed, kitchen.

A 15% discount is available for stays of 2 or more nights. The BLUEBIRD is
located 8/10 of a mile from the center of Idyllwild. If you hitch in from
Pines-to-Palms Highway, the BLUEBIRD is one of the first places you?ll see.
26905 Hwy 243. 1-866-439-5594. [www.bluebirdcottageinn.com]

Another option is the ATIPAHATO LODGE, located 1/4 mile up the hill from the
Tahquitz. 25525 Hwy 243. 1-888-400-0071. [www.atipahato.com]. Rooms have
TV, but no phone. Rooms with 1, 2, or 3 beds, from $55 to $99.

There are many OTHER LODGING OPTIONS in Idyllwild, most are expensive for
the average hiker ($90+ for doubles). The most economical way to stay in
Idyllwild is to get together with other hikers and split the rooms.
Sometimes, the cabins can accommodate many people comfortably, and this is
great for hikers.

hope this helps you lucky 2004 PCT'ers!
