Sorry noone has responded, Mike- I'm on this every day, and this is the
first I've heard of it.

Many places will be hikeable by early July, though mosquitoes will be beyond
your imagination. Many places, however, can still have heavy snowpacks at
this time, mostly on north-facing slopes or heavily shaded forests. Last
year in southern Oregon (actually in the Siskiyous), I was doing some trail
clearing west of Mt. Ashland. We were thwarted above 6500' or so by snow up
to 6' deep. Of course, it varies by year. The mosquitoes will be much worse
than the snow, but nothing that netting, deet, and a zen-like calm can't
handle.

I have submitted a question about snow conditions in the Cascades in early
July. Actually, I've submitted it several times. No postings. No replies. As
a new member, I must be doing something wrong. I would like to participate,
but I come up "empty" on every attempt. I'm already far enough away from the
hiking community on my little island. My concern is real. I'd appreciate a
response.

Aloha, Mike
