The larger of those numbers listed is both "ups" and "downs" added together.
I have been playing with the altitude gained and have been entering all the
way points and their elevations and mileages into Excel and get the same figure
as Craig's Planner...8985 feet gained. The elevation lost is 8860'
But.... has anyone noticed that the mileages don't exactly add up when you go
way point to way point, as opposed to just looking at the chart at the front
of the section? For example, the mileage in Section B is listed on page 99 of
the new book as 101.4 miles. But...and I have checked it thrice, if you add
up the point to point mileage it is 96.7. This is most often the case.
But most of all, it must be a pretty desperate, snow bound individual who
spends his time adding up a bunch of stupid numbers... :C)
