[pct-l] RE:NB 806

Check out the Dunham Waffle Stomper Nimble. We're just about to start the
tests on them. Very comfortable and good traction, so far. New Balance owns
Dunham and the fit is the same, for me.

FYI: Recently bought NB 806s on sale at Sportmart and day hikes last week
in Death Valley(Zabriskie Point, Hole in the Wall) confirmed my suspicion
that this is a "hot" shoe when compared with earlier 800 series shoes, at
least for me. This is due to the extensive use of synthetic leather in the
806 compared to the fabric of the earlier 800 series shoes. I also noticed
my hiking companions, who were mostly wearing lug sole boots, had more
traction on the steep talus slopes in the Hole in the Wall area, although
this is to be expected when comparing these types of footwear. Anyway,
overall a fine shoe, the sizing is right on, no fit or blister problems
right out of the box, at least for me with a mostly normal 10 and 1/2 D
foot, probably very durable, but not well suited to hot weather hiking. I
was getting a little uncomfortable in Death Valley and it was only 75-80
degrees. And, very unusual for people like me who care about such things,
made in America.
