[pct-l] Refried Black Bean Powder
I used to use bean powder in the same way that you envision, having some
always available and either supplementing a meal with it or adding it to a
dinner. You might make sure that you are able to tolerate it with heavy
exercise and continuous changes in altitude, before buying a bunch and
adding it to all your meal and resupply boxes.
Beans have a know gas producing ability for most of us(ahem), which may be
only unpleasant at low altitude and in ordinary activity. In the HIgh
Sierras I found it so excruciating that I couldn't eat. I am quite familar
with problems of altitude alone, and the problem cleared as soon as I
stopped eating bean paste Your digestion changes a lot with heavy exercise
and altitude. If you eat beans at low altitude, and climb up in altitude,
guess what happens to the gas? I found that my digestion was really slow
as soon as I started to exercise. All the blood was in my muscles and not
in my gut helping digestion. It may be a matter of choosing to use the
beanmeal only at night before bed.
I suspect that some cases of what are thought of parasitic problems are an
irritated gut which can not cope with the added stress and problems of a
different diet, high altitude and lots of exercise.

Heard it is a good addition to a meal and takes up very little space in a
pack or Bear Canister. I have tried Whole Foods in Southern California with
no luck as well as the internet.
