[pct-l] Boots on the PCT

All of the old core of PCT hikers wore boots and, of course, had varying
success and problems. I wore a light weight pair of boots in Sth California and
had a serious problem with blisters on the balls of my feet that I believe was
due to heat more than anything else. I switched to heavy weight Vasque boots
going into the Sierra and immediately began breaking in my feet and the boots.
Once adjusted to, I wore these in perfect comfort for the next 1500 miles
and then went back to light weight boots for Washington.
Would I wear boots again? In Sth California I would wear a trail running
shoe. I would wear a light weight boot in the Sierra because I would want to
enter the Sierra early enough for there to be snow left at the passes. I would
go back to the trail running shoes for the rest thereafter. But then I have
strong ankles and would not be carrying the weight that I did years ago. Your
ankles, comfort and pack weight will vary.

would like to hear from any one that hiked the PCT in boots and would they
wear boots again on the PCT.
