Yeah, the PCT definately offers different challenges then the AT and many a
strong AT hiker has washed out on the PCT because of them.
Upon leaving Scissors Crossing we had to hunker down after a short distance
and set camp early after being exposed to a serious rain/hail storm. The walk
the following day to Barrel Springs wasn't all that bad. I even had water
left over and filled on of Meadow Ed's jugs about 5 miles before the springs.
I remember, thinking to myself before reaching Kennedy Meadows, if I ever do
this trail again I'll start at KM, but once I got there I was happy to stick
it out and appreciated the southern section that much more. Desert hiking is
truly unique and well worth the effort.
